As I get set to turn over the reigns as your Rear Commodore for Power during the last two years, I want to thank you for the opportunity to serve on your board, and for all the camaraderie and lasting friendships that have developed from my affiliation with HCYC. I know that Clayton Perry, our new Rear Commodore for Power will be great in this position. I wish him all the luck in the world. And I offer him my undying support as he prepares to take over this vital and important position. As I look back on the past year, it has been a strange one. We went from griping, moaning, complaining about the lack of rain and low lake levels, to griping moaning and complaining about the overabundance of water and high lake levels that had us to ferrying over from Crane’s Mill. (We will do anything we have to satiate our boat habit and have our parties at the yacht club.) These past two years have been full of great memories. I will never forget any of them as I prepare to take my place as just an avid HCYC member, as opposed to the prestigious Rear Commodore for Power. I guess that means I no longer have to maintain all that dignity and decorum I have managed to portray at all our HCYC functions. I can already hear the guffaws and belly laughs emerging from the peanut gallery, so maybe I better quit while I am behind. The next event is the Installation Banquet. The Ye Kendall Inn is a fantastic venue for this event. I hope that you will all attend and start the New Year in style. Once again thanks for your vote of confidence over the last two years. See you at the banquet and at the lake. Boating’s still good, |
