By John Larkin,
Vice Commodore

It seems as if 2007 flew by so quickly. When I stop look back through the calendar, I see that we had the most successful racing programs in a long time, parties among the best the club has ever hosted. We also had some of the weirdest weather on record, new ownership for our marina, new vessels for several members and a very successful membership program.

Thanks to everyone who helped me in my efforts as your Vice-Commodore. I look forward to filling come big shoes and I will make every attempt to continue the outstanding leadership provided by Dave Herrington over the past year.

I am extremely honored to have been selected to serve as your new Commodore. I look forward to hearing from those of you who wish to dedicate some of your time to make our yacht club even better. Those club members who simply lend a hand to clean-up after an event promote good will among our other volunteer members and relieve the others from carrying the burden of doing all of the work. We all should try to spend more time together, both volunteering and relaxing.

I have been fortunate to have succeeded Dave Kahil as Vice-Commodore at the beginning of 2007. I appreciate all of the work he has done for the club. I hope you will make an effort to ask Clayton Perry, our 2008 Vice-Commodore if he needs any help replacing light bulbs, making plumbing repairs, scraping, painting or completing those pesky little repairs that always seem to need attention.

I hope all HCYC members and their families are able to celebrate this joyous season with happiness and good health.

Let’s all get together at the banquet and celebrate our good fortune to have such a wonderful group of members dedicated to enjoying our escape at the lake.

Be safe and I'll see you at the lake,
John Larkin
