The Lake Canyon Yacht Club (LCYC) has invited HCYC members to register for and to attend the two (2) adult sail training classes they are conducting this year. The adult sail training for 2007 is scheduled as follows:
This session is designed to give the non sailor a starting point to becoming a sailor. The training also provides many details that may have been bypassed by some new sailors. The training is staffed by some of LCYC's more experienced club members. There will be ample opportunity to ask questions and get feedback on most subjects concerning sailing. The LCYC club house is used as a class room, and it can accommodate about 30-35 people. In addition to the classroom session, there is dockside and on boat training and familiarization. Some basic knot tying is also included. If you are a new sailor or non sailor this is an opportunity to increase your knowledge with out leaving the local area. This also is a good opportunity for you to bring a spouse or friend into sailing activities. There is no charge for this training. We typically send notices to some public entities concerning this class, however, we
always notify club members prior to submitting the information to the public. It is important
for club members that desire to attend to sign up with the club LCYC office early.
ENHANCED SAIL TRAINING CLASS (TO INCLUDE RACING) will be held on March 3rd & 4th from 9AM to 4PM each day. While the training does include beginning racing, it contains several other important elements for some of our members. Among these are boat handling information including some on the water demonstrations. Sail trim, sail trim controls as well as the various lines will be covered. There will be information provided, and demonstrations held, regarding the most important information a skipper should impart to sailing partners. There will be tips and information given on how to leave your boat when you head home, information on rigging and boat maintenance, information on persons overboard and retrieval techniques. All of these topics will be discussed and will be reviewed. To reserve your spot, call LCYC at (210) 590-7100, or email LCYC at ClubAdmin@LCYC.net |
